The national education institutions are staging the Open Doors Day for parents who intend to enroll their children in the first grade on April 14-30. Applications for being enrolled in the first grade can be submitted starting with April 21. Under the methodology approved by the Ministry of Education, the process of enrolling children in the first grade will consist of two successive stages. The first stage, to enroll students from the district where the education institution is located, will take place between April 21 and May 21. The second stage, to fill the vacancies, will be held between June 24 and August 17, IPN reports.
School enrolment becomes mandatory when the child turns seven. Only the children who will study arts and sports will have to take special tests. The children younger than seven can be enrolled at the request of the parents or other legal representatives of the children, based on the decision of a specialized district/municipal commission.
The places that remained free at the first stage can be filled by children coming from other school districts, including from other settlements. If the number of applications filed by parents living outside the school district is higher than the number of free places, priority will be given to children with special educational needs, children who are under substitutive parental care, orphans or children whose younger brothers/sisters study at the given institution or whose parents/grandparents are employees of this institution.
Information about the school districts, admission plan and number of places will be posted at each general education institution, including on its website.
