Schools involved in Chisinau’s clean-up efforts
Students attending schools and other educational institutions in Chisinau are urged to take active part in the municipality’s clean-up efforts, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the municipal department for education, youth and sports (MDEYS), this action will help the youth become aware of how important keeping the city clean is. Besides, this will give a boost to clean-up efforts.
On Thursdays and Fridays, designated as sanitary days, each educational unit will assign after classes 2-3 students to tidy up and pick up the garbage from the territory of the educational establishment.
To enhance civic responsibility among students, MDEYS has initiated a series of contests as part of the bimonthly ecological and sanitary event “Paradise for our Country”, which started in late March and will run until April 23. Students may apply for a number of contests offered: drawing competition; conferences and debates on environmental issues; schoolyard beautification contest; and a competition of Easter hand-crafted arrangements.
The results of the bimonthly event will be announced on April 23, after MDEYS names the best students involved.
