The educational process in schools and kindergartens is suspended as of March 11 until the end of next week. The announcement was made by Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu, who informed about two new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus, IPN reports.
“The vacation does not mean that the children should be left unsupervised and that they should be exposed to a bigger risk of infection with the coronavirus and other infections. We call on the parents to behave responsibly and supervise the children and monitor who they contact with. I reiterate that we should avoid self-medication and should call the family doctor, if need be,” stated Viorica Dumbrăveanu.
She noted that each higher education establishment took measures to prevent infection with the novel coronavirus by reducing the number of students in a classroom and the length of lectures.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, Minister of Education, Culture and Research Corneliu Popovici said that an order to halt the educational process in schools and kindergartens will be soon issued.
The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection on March 10 informed about two more cases of infection with the novel coronavirus. These were confirmed by lab tests in a man and a woman, both aged 60, who recently returned from Italy. The two persons with COVID-19 were admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorbă” and their state of health is medium grave.
