Experts in public health management from the country and abroad, students and graduates of the School of Public Health Management during two days will take part in a number of events staged on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the institution. The activities are organized by the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu”, IPN reports.

In the conference held to launch the events, the University’s rector Ion Ababii said the managers of medical institutions and other specialists in public health acquired profound knowledge in management, economy and communication owing to the studies at the School of Public Health Management. This thing substantially contributed to successful implementing important reforms in healthcare and to strengthening the national health system.

Minister of Health Mircea Buga said the foundation of the School of Public Health Management 10 years ago was a remarkable success that is unprecedented in Moldova’s health sector and the Ministry and society banks on its continuity.

The School of Public Health Management’s director Oleg Loza said that during the ten years, 246 graduates of the school obtained the master’s degree and the interest in studies at this institution is increasing. The School provides all kinds of university education services, while its graduates work all over Moldova.

Program Manager for Public Health Services at the WHO Regional Office for Europe Elke Jakubowski noted that medical excellence determines the success of treatment, while the good management also determines the people’s confidence in the health system. “You must strengthen these accomplishments and ensure continuous training in the area of public health,” he stated, adding that the public health specialists in Moldova are growing older, but there are also young people who enter this profession.

Aliona Serbulenko, graduate of the first class, said the things done for the people and for the health system will ensure eternity. She called on her colleagues to work with devotion.

The anniversary events will take place on May 29 and 30. These also form part of the activities dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu”.
