School holidays end in Transnistria
Students on the left bank of the Nistru River also finished their school holidays and will go back to classes starting Monday, January 19, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Olvia Press.
Heat supply for the educational institutions in Tiraspol, Bender, Rabnita and other towns and villages has been resumed. However, not all the buildings are heated at standard levels, because the gas supply has been restarted very recently. “We hope that no special situations will occur during this weekend, so that the temperature in the studying rooms will go back to normal”, stated the Transnistrian Minister of Education Maria Pascenko, quoted by Olvia Press.
According to the Transnistrian official, the situation is even worse in the schools and kindergartens in villages, because they might expect new interruptions of heat supply.
Pasenko also said the educational system has been affected by the prolongation of the winter vacation. The region's authorities are to establish the way in which the missed classes will be recovered. One of the possibilities taken into account is the reduction by one or two days of the spring vacation, reduction of the number of holidays or organizing classes during weekends.
The children were to resume classes on January 12. The vacation was extended because of the complete interruption of gas supply to the region, as a consequence of the Russia-Ukraine gas row.
