School fair opens in Chisinau
The traditional fair for students, which is usually held near the Cathedral Park in downtown Chisinau, opened on August 15 and will continue until September 15, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The schoolchildren can find everything they need at the fair, including supplies, schoolbags, notebooks, dictionaries, footwear and clothes sold directly by the producers. According to the sellers, the goods at the fair are by 5-10% cheaper than in shops. The cheapest notebooks cost 0.65 lei, while the cheapest schoolbags - 200 lei.
School supplies seller Ana Macari stated for Info-Prim Neo that most of the prices of school supplies remained at the same level as last year. Many parents told the agency’s reporter that they will spend at least 2,000 lei on the things needed for school. The supplies for the children that will start school this year cost more than 300-350 lei. Together with the textbooks and school uniform, the sum will exceed 2,000 lei.
”The prices here are lower. We come to the fair at the start of every school year because we can find here everything we need,” said Ana Cojocaru, the mother of a fourth grader.
”We use this occasion not only to increase sales, but also to promote our goods because the people look for us after buying things here,” said Irina Ciobanu, who sells clothes.
