The traditional school fair started work in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral in central Chisinau. Sellers exhibited goods on the alley along Pushkin St, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We can find here school supplies, clothing and footwear, but the prices are very high. We expected the prices will be lower at the fair, but they are the same as on the market,” said a buyer. The parents of a nine-year-old boy expressed their disappointment. They said they cannot pay 400 lei for a pullover when they live on a salary of 1,000 lei. “We have not yet determined how much money we will spend, but saw that the prices are higher than last year,” said the boy’s mother. Some of the vendors confirmed that the prices of school supplies, clothes and footwear are higher this year. The ordinary notebooks cost 0.7 lei, while those with a larger number of pages – between 3 and 8 lei. The prices of pullovers vary between 250 and 500 lei. The visitors of the fair can buy notebooks, covers for books and notebooks, schoolbags, footwear and clothing. This year, the fair will be open until September 4.
