The Quality Assurance Agency was transformed into the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation by a Government decision. The authority will be managed by the Ministry of Education and will be responsible for coordinating the process of reviewing the national curriculum for all the education institutions. It will also organize the exams and other forms of assessment in the general education institutions, IPN reports.
Minister of Education Maia Sandu said the given reorganization is needed for modernizing the curriculum. The school program is now very difficult and does not ensure the young people’s preparation for life.
The curriculum in general education institutions will be the first to be modernized. The revision will last for at most one year and a half and will be preceded by public debates involving teachers, students, parents and other interested players.
The costs associated with the creation of the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation include 2.2 million lei for paying salaries of the new employees, 400,000 lei for purchasing computers and printers and 2 million lei for reviewing the curriculum.
