The persons detained in a case concerning the embezzlement of public funds by decision-makers and employees of the Center of Excellence in Medicine and Pharmacy "Raisa Pacalo" were set free.
The Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) said that during the hearings, the suspects partially confirmed their involvement in the investigated scheme and will be investigated outside custody, IPN reports.
"As the people are elderly and in poor health (an ambulance was called out during their detention in NAC remand unit), PCCOCS prosecutors charged them and the criminal investigation continues with them out, by ensuring procedural guarantees," said the Prosecutor's Office.
Law enforcement officers on Thursday carried out 45 searches in the offices, homes and cars of the persons involved, seizing bank cards, objects and documents important for the criminal case and money whose origin is to be established. Four people, including the director of the institution, the chief accountant, a human resources specialist and a unit head, were detained for 72 hours. In total, nine people were classed as suspects in this case.
