The coming weeks, the agenda of Moldova as president of the Energy Community will be full of events, Info-Prim Neo reports. On September 20, an informal meeting of ministers coordinating energy problems in the countries of the Energy Community and the EU will take place in Wroclaw, Poland. According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, Moldova will report on the activities carried out by the member states of the Energy Community and will inform about the objectives that it set as president of this regional organization. Among them, Valeriu Lazar enumerated the adjustment of the national legislation and polices in the field to the European standards, implementation of projects to build interconnections with the European energy system and energy efficiency projects. “We will thus have the opportunity to discuss a number of aspects with our colleagues and exchange experience as regards the negotiations they hold with the suppliers of energy resources,” said Lazar. He also said that a number of events centering on the European energy policy will take place in Chisinau during October 4-6. “The Social Forum of the Energy Community will be held on October 4. We will have very interesting discussions as those who work out energy policies in Moldova and most of the countries not only aim to make the energy companies efficient so that they provide services of a high quality, but also focus on the social aspects, mainly the charges for end-users. The ministerial conference of energy officials of the Energy Community will start on October 5. It will be attended by the European Commissioner for Energy. It will be a large-scale event that will include presentation of studies and fact-finding visits,” said the minister. Valeriu Lazar invited all the interested persons, representatives of energy companies, independent experts, NGOs and the press to actively take part in these events.
