Scenes of violence at monument to Stephan the Great

A group of students and teachers of the Psychology Laboratory of the Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” staged scenes of violence in the square of the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great within a flashmob meeting on May 19. They conveyed the message “No to violence in school!”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The laboratory’s coordinator Otilia Stomatina said the young men decided to show the most frequent scenes of physical and psychological violence met in schools in order to attract the community’s attention as this phenomenon increases under the influence of aggressively in society, the parents’ departure and the violent scenes in the mass media. “We consider that everyone should become involved in combating corruption,” she stated. “We show moments that happen in schools. I play the role of a rich student who laughs at the poor students who do not have money,” said Ecaterina. “We are against violence in schools because this is a topical and very serious problem. We mime the students who are harassed, beaten and insulted by teachers,” stated Olga. Another group of students staged a battle between students. “I played the role of an aggressor. Several boys beat a weaker student. This is not correct and we want the people to hear us,” said Pavel. The group of young people went to the Organ Hall, where they staged the same scenes. The organizers said that according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, about 750 children were subjected to violence in 2011, by 95 children more than in 2010. The number of cases of child murder and beating and of thefts and hooliganism involving children has increased.
