Scenes from behind Opera curtains brought to the public

The National Opera and Ballet Theater “Maria Biesu” launched the documentary “In the backstage of the Opera”. According to authors, the movie shows the public the world behind the scenes of the National Opera, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a press conference in July 5, theater head Valeria Seican noted that the movie’s opening coincided with the theater’s anniversary. On July 5, 1957, the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Moldova awarded official status to the Opera Theater. “The movie conveys the atmosphere, the live emotions of each show. Our friends from the OWH Studio have worked 8 months on it. Sometimes under cover and with hidden cameras. Everyone who knows how to work for culture will appear in the film”, said Valeria Seican. General director of OWH TV Studio and the movie’s producer Virgiliu Margineanu explained that he tried to show the public everything about the setting, the makeup of actors, the props. He refused to answer about the cost of the production and said the only thing that mattered was the quality. “Initially, people were constrained, but then agreed to be filmed. This is a documentary about what’s behind the curtains”, said the producer. Film critic and professor at the National University of Theatric and Cinematographic Arts Manuela Cernat told Info-Prim Neo that she expected the movie to present a touching image of the family of artists and technicians who make up the Opera. “I think the film will show the unknown side of over 600 art people, who remained unseen until now”, she declared at the opening. The movie will be broadcasted by TV channels in Moldova and abroad.
