Sanitary-veterinary and phytosanitary services at customs posts restored
The Government decided to re-include the sanitary-veterinary and phytosanitary services at the customs posts set up at border crossing points, Info-Prim Neo reports.
There will be 14 sanitary-veterinary checking posts with 51 employees for goods that are imported, exported or in transit and 14 phytosanitary posts with 68 employees.
The changes form part of the action plan on the implementation of the food safety system and the creation of the Food Safety Agency that will supervise products of animal origin.
According to Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, the action plan was drawn up following recommendations made by the European Commission for creating the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The Food Safety Agency is to be set up by this yearend.
