The sudden inspections carried out by the Chisinau Public Health Center at two medical institutions revealed sanitary-hygienic irregularities at the Municipal Clinical Children’s Hospital “Valentin Ignatenko”.

Contacted by IPN, representative of the press service of the Chisinau Public Health Center Daniela Turtureanu said there was no information about the stored food products in the hospital’s cooking facilities. Furthermore, the dairy products were kept on a non-filed wooden support, which is a violation. Samples were taken for examination from the technological and production equipment. The examination results will become known in about ten days.

The inspections were carried out with the aim of determining the quality of food products in health facilities and of examining the sanitary-hygienic conditions in cooking facilities and the documents of origin of products.

At the Cardiology Institute, there were identified no violations of the rules of keeping food products.

Last week, 16 persons, nine of whom functionaries of district education divisions, were arrested on suspicion of rigging of bidding for purchasing food products for the schools and kindergartens of Chisinau. As a result, unfit products were supplied to these institutions. There were cases of food poisoning among children.
