Maia Sandu's team proposes that the debates with her opponent in the presidential runoff vote Alexandr Stoianoglo should take place on Thursday or Friday at the latest. The representatives of the PAS’ candidate suggested the studio of the national television company as a meeting place, but Stoianoglo's team prefers a platform outside televisions, IPN reports.
"We proposed this Thursday so as to offer this debate to the citizens as soon as possible. The day of the debate is still being discussed. However, we propose that it should be held faster, at least on Friday, so that the candidates on the weekend have time to go to districts. Our team proposed the studio of the national television company. The team of the opponent refused and proposed a platform outside televisions. We agreed,” said Adrian Băluțel, the representative of Maia Sandu's electoral staff.
According to him, the candidate's team proposed an independent moderator, an expert accepted by everyone from civil society. "Their team proposed to have two moderators. We accept one, two, and three – this is not essential. The debate matters, not who the moderators are. Their team proposed a journalist from Realitatea TV and we agreed. Then they changed their mind and proposed Gheorghe Gonța as a moderator," stated Adrian Băluțel.
The team of Realitatea media group said that none of RLIVE TV’s presenters was contacted and offered to moderate the debate ahead of the runoff presidential election involving Maia Sandu and Alexandr Stoianoglo.
The second round of the presidential election will take place on November 3.
