President Maia Sandu says that “those who served corrupt regimes have no chance of returning to the system”. The comment was made after the former prosecutor general Eduard Harunjen announced earlier today that he was seeking reinstatement.
“The fight against corruption will continue and all those who served corrupt regimes have no chance to return to the system”, Maia Sandu told TV8.
Eduard Harunjen made a surprise comeback on Thursday, telling reporters he intended to ask President Sandu to repeal the decree of her predecessor, Igor Dodon, that had Harunjen sacked in July 2019. While he asked for the resignation himself back then, Harunjen now claims he was pressured into doing so, and thus the decree should be considered null. If Sandu refuses to reinstate him as prosecutor general, Harunjen says he will take legal action.
