Sales of fixed-line phone services declined
Turnover in the fixed-line phone sector in 2009 decreased by 12.7% from 2008. The sales declined the second consecutive year owing to the lower volume of traffic in the fixed-line phone networks, the national information and communication technology regulator says in a report.
The turnover of Moldtelecom fell by 12%, while of the alternative fixed-line phone carriers – by about 39.4%. Consequently, the monthly average revenue per user decreased by 15%.
Specialists of the Agency consider the diminution was determined by the lower consumption of fixed-line phone services as a result of the financial crisis and the replacement of the fixed-line phone services with mobile phone services.
Though sales in the fixed-line phone sector declined, the number of subscribers increased slightly.
