The sales of electronic communications services in the second quarter of this year rose to 1.662 billion lei, an increase of 3.3% compared with the first quarter of 2016 and a decrease of 4.4% on the second quarter of last year, IPN reports.

According to the data published by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, an 18.3% increase compared with the second quarter of 2015 was reported in the sales of mobile Internet access services. These came to over 169 million lei.

The revenues from other activities performed in the electronic communications sector grew by 15.6% to 162.9 million lei, while the sales of fixed Internet access services rose by 4.5% to 272.7 million lei. The volume of sales on the other three market segments – fixed-line phone, mobile phone and broadcasting and transmission of audiovisual programs – decreased.

Thus, the sales of audiovisual programs broadcasting and transmission services declined by 37.2% on the second quarter of 2015 to 66.9 million lei, of mobile phone services – by 6.5% to 844.2 million lei, while of fixed-line phone services - by 5.1% to 230.6 million lei.
