Sale of expired products will be punished with fine of up to 4 000 lei

The sale of products that do not contain the manufacturing date and expiration date or whose shelf life has expired or is modified on the label, packing or in the accompanying documents will be fined 2 000 to 4 000 lei. A draft initiative to toughen up the penalties for the illegal sale of products was approved by the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports. The violation of the rules of forming and applying the prices or tariffs regulated by the state will be fined 600 to 1 000 lei for every separate case. The amendments approved by the Government also require performing wholesale commercial transactions only by transfer. Exception is made only for economic entities that have product distribution networks (trucks equipped with cash register). Both the buyer and the seller will be fined for violating this provision. The fine for private individuals will be 1 000 to 2 000 lei, while for legal entities – 3 000 to 4 000 lei
