Salaries and pensions can be paid with delay from next February

January is the last month when the salaries and pensions will be paid on time, candidate for Prime Minister Ion Sturza said in a press briefing. According to him, the sad experience of paying salaries and pensions with delay could repeat starting with February, IPN reports.

“I received confirmations from a number of sources and exact data,” stated Sturza. “The money that is to be collected from taxes and the customs service will ensure a level of sub-existence.”

Practically no money is planned to be allocated for development and projects. “It is a scenario that any minister must take into account and identify the real resources possessed by the Republic of Moldova so as to fulfill the basic, social duties,” said Sturza.

The candidate for premiership said that external financing will come not earlier than in the middle of next year. “The main condition of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for providing money to Moldova is for the financial-banking sector to be cleaned and for the situation to be stabilized,” said Sturza, specifying that Moldova could sign an agreement with the IMF only towards the end of next year.
