The municipal services managed to clean and arrange Saint Lazarus Cemetery for Low Sunday and the people are satisfied, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said Saturday, after inspecting the largest cemetery of Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. “There will be four ambulances on guard near the cemetery. About 1,000 police officers will maintain public order all over the municipality. There will be provided 70 tanks with technical water and four with drinking water,” said the mayor. The local authorities expect that about 500,000 people will visit Saint Lazarus Cemetery on Sunday and Monday. The cemetery’s director Pavel Enii said the preparations started on April 1. More than 100,000 cubic meters of waste were collected from the cemetery’s territory every day. Several days will be needed after Low Sunday to clean the cemetery. Iacob Capcelea, director of the Chisinau Urban Bus Company, said the buses running on route No. 3 will transport passengers to Saint Lazarus Cemetery free of charge on May 1 and 2. Route “C” will start from Vasile Alecsandri St, while route “D” and No. 27 from the Circus. The buses on route “C” and 27 will run from 6am until 9pm, while the buses on route “D” will work until there are passengers. Saint Lazarus Cemetery occupies 110 hectares. It is considered the largest cemetery in Southeastern Europe and includes over 250,000 graves.
