Ruxanda Glavan: Government’s attitude to medical personnel is inappropriate

The “Government’s inappropriate attitude to the personnel of the healthcare system” made the members of the Pro Moldova Party address a public call to the administration, asking that this should stop the repressive and demotivating measures aimed against the medical personnel, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, ex-Minister of Health Ruxanda Glavan, a member of the Pro Moldova Party, said the administration since the start of the pandemic has made a number of promises, but these weren’t delivered. “At the beginning of April, they promised to organize the periodical and free testing of all the healthcare workers, but nothing has been done in six months of the start of the pandemic. They said the doctors are incompetent and don’t know how to correctly put on and off the equipment, but not all the doctors have yet full and sufficient equipment for protecting themselves from the infection,” stated Ruxanda Glavan.

She noted that 16,000 lei was to be paid to the infected medical personnel to motivate them financially, but these actually were subject to humiliation when being made to prove that they didn’t get infected elsewhere. The promise was to double the salaries, but the pays were actuality raised by 30%, leaving the technical, administrative and ancillary personnel without pay raises.

“The team of Pro Moldova Party draws the government’s attention and proposes keeping the allowance of 16,000 lei by paying this in the nearest future to those who became infected, introducing a one-off allowance of 100,000 lei for families in which a member who was a healthcare worker died and reallocating the money blocked for electoral purposes so as to double the salaries of all the employees of the healthcare system as of September 1,” said the MP.

According to her, all these proposals were registered in the form of amendments to the bills that were drafted by the Government and were included in the agendas of the September 10 and September 11 sittings of Parliament.

Also, given that control over the infection on the part of the Government was fully lost and the number of new cases of COVID-19 among the population and of infected healthcare workers rises vertiginously, Pro Moldova invites Minister of Health Viorica Dumbrăveanu to hearings today.
