Russia's trade representative in Moldova dismissed

The Russian Federation’s trade representative in the Republic of Moldova Vladislav Darvai was discharged. An order to this effect was issued by Russia’s Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, IPN reports.

The decision to dismiss his from office was explained by the expiry of the employment contract.

Vladislav Darvai had held the position of deputy trade representative of the Russian Federation in Moldova since 2014, and since 2019 he had served as the trade representative.

Vladislav Darvai’s name was mentioned in an investigation carried out by Radio Free Europe, which said that at least two of the 10 diplomats left at the Russian embassy in Chisinau, after the expulsions a year ago, have ties with the Russian Federal Security Service, FSB.

Born in Tiraspol, in the family of a Russian soldier from the former 14th army, Darvai graduated from the Moscow State Institute for International Relations (MGIMO) and worked for the companies “Uralsib” and “Lukoil” before joining Renaissance foundation, which is close to the administration of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
