Russians living in Moldova voted for Vladimir Putin
Over 55,000 Russian citizens who live in Moldova on a permanent or a temporary basis cast their ballots in the Russian presidential elections on March 4. 87.4% of them voted in favor of Vladimir Putin, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
Gennady Zyuganov polled 5.4% of the vote in Moldova, Mihail Prohorov – 3.05%, Vladimir Jirinovski – 2.72%, while Sergey Mironov – 0.84%. 0.59% of the ballots were invalidated.
The number of Russian citizens who took part in the elections has increased. In 2008, votes were cast by 49,000 people.
As many as 25 polling stations were established on Moldova’s territory for the March 4 elections. Most of them were situated in the Transnistrian region even if the official Chisinau protested against opening polling places there.
