The participation by Russian troops in the May 9 parade mounted in Tiraspol is a challenge for the Moldovan authorities and for the international community. This action is dangerous, especially in the context of the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format, Moldova’s ex-Ambassador to Portugal Mihail Camerzan said in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
According to him, after Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula of Ukraine, it is sending signals to the Moldovan authorities and the international community that it can do how it wants, what it wants and when it wants. “This is dangerous, especially because it had been announced and it was known that a meeting in the 5+2 format will take place,” stated Mihail Camerzan.
Director of the Doctoral School of the Free International University of Moldova Vitalie Gamurari said that by such an action, the imperative norms of international law are violated. “No one must wait for a reaction from representatives of the international community in Chisinau. A reaction must come from Chisinau and this reaction must be balanced and clear,” he stated.
Doctor of Law Alexandru Cauia said an information war is witnessed in Moldova and in the region too. “Fifteen years ago it was in vogue to speak about the freedom of the media and democratic values in the Southeastern region of Europe and we even believed that we will enjoy these at a certain moment. There is an incontestable media war today at regional level,” he explained.
Media analyst Cristian Tabara stated that someone must assume the objective mission of decrypting the pro-Eastern propagandistic messages in the case of this parade as particular confusion is promoted deliberately in this case.
