The Supreme Rada of Kiev denounced five agreements signed with Russia, including one that refers to the transit of the Russian military to and from the Transnistrian region through Ukraine’s territory, IPN reports, quoting the website of Unian Agency.

A number of 265 MPs of the attending 324 voted in favor of denouncing the agreement. The initiative was put forward by non-affiliated MP Mikhail Golovko, who said that the document is designed “to eliminate the existing legal prerequisites for moving military forces of the Russian Federation, deployed on the territory of Moldova, in transit through the territory of Ukraine.” The agreement was signed in 1995.

The head of the Defense Committee of the Russian Duma Vladimir Komoedov, to which the news portal TCH makes reference, expressed his indignation at the Ukrainian Rada’s decision, saying he does not know how the Russian military troops deployed in the region will be supplied. He noted that Russia will yet not abandon the Transnistrian region. “We must think how to act in this situation and find solutions. We must not leave Transnistria and Moldova,” stated Komoevod.
