Russian ruble may be introduced in Transnistria

The Transnistrian administration instituted a group of experts that is analyzing the possibility of the Russian ruble circulating freely in the region alongside the Transnistrian ruble. In February, the Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk will meet with these experts and will listen to their opinion so as to take a decision in this respect. Shevchuk informed about this in an interview that was published on the official website of the Transnistrian administration, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In some states the legislation allows several currencies to be used in parallel. I disused with representatives of our businesses that cooperate with Russian companies and they said that it would be easier for them if they are able to make the payments in Russian rubles too. They stated their opinion and the experts are now analyzing the situation. In February, they will pronounce on the issue and we will take a decision,” said Yevgeny Shevchuk. In another interview, the Transnistrian leader said that he would like more Russian investors with clear plans and important resources to come to the region. He also said that a common currency with Russia will enable to save money on the exchange rate.
