Russian Minister Gherman Gref could bring news to Moldova

Russia’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade Gherman Gref is on a one-day visit to Chisinau at the invitation of Minister of Economy and Trade (MET), Igor Dodon. A MET communique reads that the Moldovan side will make “a presentation of the current economic reforms implemented in Moldova, of the achievements in the field of structural reforms, of the state policies in supporting small and mid-sized businesses”, etc., during the meeting of the two ministers. Referring to the trade policies, the present state is to be tackled in relation to the ratification by the two parties of the Agreement Protocol between Moldova and the Russian Federation as regards the principles of collecting indirect taxes in the mutual trade. The two parties will exchange experience in the field of state policies towards exporters. The cited source doesn’t provide any information on some possible talks on the current issues related to banning the export of Moldovan goods to Russia, thanks to which Moldova’s economy is in a shock state for over a year now. Media analysts consider that some decisions in this respect could be announced at the news conference held by the two officials by the end of the day. A news conference is to be held in the same context on Tuesday, August 28, by the agro industrial agency “Moldova Vin” on resuming wine export to Russia. Its organisers promise “it will be interesting”. Last week the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry announced that the Russian Federal Service “Rosselhoznadzor” allowed Moldovan enterprises to export lamb meat to Russia, as well as beef meat, but only to 3 enterprises. The agenda of the Russian minister’s visit to Chisinau also includes meetings with President Vladimir Voronin and Premier Vasile Tarlev.
