Russian Federation assists Transnistria
Russian Federation will allot humanitarian assistance to Transnistria and will take decisions regarding the financial assistance, the ambassador of the special missions of Russian MAE, Valerii Keniaikin, stated.
Russia will not leave in need his citizens, living in Transnistria, either those of Moldova and Ukraine, living in this region. We will do our best to allot them humanitarian assistance with drugs, food and everything they need. There will be taken decisions as well regarding the financial assistance.
According to him, it is not about a technical issue in the situation of Transnistria, but about „political actions coordinated not only by Moldova and Ukraine, but also other western states, as regrettable it is.”
He mentioned that Russia will do everything to regulate the conflict on political-diplomatic ways, but in case the situation worsens there will be necessary extreme measures.
The ambassador reiterated the position of Russian Federation that it has to be re-instated the previous customs clearances regime existent till 3 March.
Since 3 March 2006, Ukraine does not allow the transit at Moldovan-Ukrainian border without Moldova’s customs specimens. This lead to reaction on behalf of administration of separatist region, which noted that the region registered losses of million dollars. Including persons of many villages organised during last week protest meetings. The position of the administration is supported by Moscow, the government that adopted a declaration considering these actions as economic blockade and requires re-establishment of the customs regime till 3 March. On the other hand the international community welcomes Ukraine’s decision, considering it as correct one and it is not about an economic blockade.
