The National Food Safety Agency sent a letter to the administration of the Russian phytosanitary service “Rosselhoznadzor”, inviting Russian experts to Moldova to assess the phytosanitary state and control mechanism of the fruit and vegetables, the Agency’s director Ion Sula announced in the program “Public space” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.
The director said the producers from Moldova made considerable progress. “We can guarantee that our products are safe and pose no threats,” he stated.
As to the exports to the EU, Ion Sula noted that there is permanent dialogue and communication with Moldovan exporters. They are informed what documents they need to export goods. “The procedure is not difficult. The products must be accompanied by the inoffensiveness certificate, the analysis certificate issued by a specialized laboratory, the phytosanitary certificate and the contract signed with the importer,” he said.
He underlined the importance of the exporters finding buyers, especially now that Poland was also banned from exporting to Russia. “We realize that their products will also be sold on the EU market and they are rather competitive,” stated Ion Sula.
Moldova cannot export fresh and canned fruit to Russia following a ban imposed by the Russian authorities in mid-July. At the same time, Moldova can export two times larger quantities of particular agricultural products to the EU from August 1.
