A 50-year-old pedestrian died Thursday as he was hit by a taxi speeding on Calea Basarabiei str. in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. Evelina Rusu, a coordinating doctor with the Ambulance Service, says the accident occurred at 22.30, and the victim is a Russian citizen. He had plane ticket dated October 22, when he was to leave for his country. On October 9, also on Calea Basarabiei, a taxi was involved in another accident but without severe consequences. Info-Prim Neo specifies that taxi company managers were convened by central and local authorities last week, and were criticized for deficient human resources policies, allowing undisciplined taxi drivers to work. Licensing Chamber chief Zinaida Chistruga urged them to take steps to redress the situation, or they may lose licenses.
