Russian citizen arrested for ‘kidnapping’ son from kindergarten in Moldova

A woman from Leova district complained to the police that her ex-partner, who is a citizen of Russia, kidnapped her child aged four from the kindergarten. The man, who is the child’s father, pushed the educator and director and took the boy by force.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the man was arrested shortly afterward and this confessed that he intended to leave Moldova together with his son, who has Moldovan and Russian nationalities.

The man is investigated for kidnapping. The police do not specify if the man is officially recognized as the child’s parent in Moldova and if the mother has sole custody of the boy.

The man faces a fine of 6,000 lei, up to 240 hours of community service or up to six months behind bars.
