Russia urges Chisinau to hasten decision on opening of consulate in Tiraspol

The Russian Federation hopes that the Moldovan authorities will soon take an appropriate decision as regards the opening of a Russian consulate in Tiraspol, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin said during his visit to Chisinau on September 2, IPN reports.

The official told a press briefing that this subject reached a chronic phase and a favorable decision should be taken as the rights of the Russians living in Transnistria must be respected. “We see no political problem here. The delay is subjective in character,” said Dmitri Rogozin. He added that he discussed this issue with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and the discussions were open, with the sides showing reciprocal sympathy.

Dmitri Rogozin is paying a two-day visit to Moldova. On September 3, the Russian official will take part in the launch of the construction of a hospital in the Transnistrian region.
