The Russia Federation should respect the economic relations with the Republic of Moldova, without involving the political interests. The two countries must avoid blockages and respect the commercial rules imposed by the World Trade Organization, of which both are members, said MP Oleg Bodrug, who forms part of the team of Liberal reformers.
“Moldova fully pays for the gas consumed on the right side of the Nistru, at prices that are close to those paid by the EU member states. In general, the price of gas depends on the fluctuations on the world oil markets. What happens in Moldova or the European Union shouldn’t depend on the wish of Rogozin. There must be strictly economic relations that should be respected,” Oleg Bodrug said in a news conference at IPN.
The lawmaker added that any halt in the supply of gas to Moldova would be illogical and rather complicated from technical viewpoint. This would endanger the commitments to supply gas to Europe made by Russia.
According to Oleg Bodrug, the cases of rejecting Moldovan products exported to Russia are in fact political warnings on behalf of Russia. “I want to assure the economic entities that we will do our utmost to supervise the situation,” said the MP, adding that the possible economic problems will be examined by the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance and that meetings will be staged with producers and exporters of products to Russia.
The Russian sanitary services have lately rejected consignments of Moldovan products exported to Russia. Recently, Russia’s food safety body “Rospotrebnadzor” blocked over 24,000 bottles of cognac, arguing they do not meet the sanitary norms.
