Russia likely to halt import of wine products from Moldova

Russia’s food safety body Rospotrebnadzor announced that the supply of Moldovan wine products to Russia may be stopped on September 11, IPN reports.

According to the body’s official website, more than 25 million liters of wine and cognac have been imported from Moldova so far this year. Lab analyses showed that the last eight consignments do not meet the sanitary norms.

There were checked products of the companies “Vinaria Purcari”, “Cricova” and “Aroma”. It was established that the admissible norm in some of the products was 80-90 times higher. In two cases, the acceptable concentrations of chemical substances were exceeded.

The Moldovan authorities haven’t yet commented on the announcement of Rospotrebnadzor.
