Acting mayor general of Chisinau municipality Ruslan Codreanu called upon all the political parties to support him if he runs in the upcoming local mayoral elections. He noted he hasn’t yet taken a decision as to his participation in the next elections. He developed the issue in the talk show “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.
“I’m very conscious. I’m not an adventurer and I do not want to experiment on my life as I served as a public functionary for enough years. That’s why I haven’t yet taken a decision. There are sufficient reasons why I should run, but there are as many sensible reasons why I should not run. But I definitely do not want to experiment on the municipality of Chisinau,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.
He said that if he runs, he could run independently or on behalf of a political party.
“There is a major risk when running independently. This is the rupture with the Chisinau Municipal Council as it is very hard to do something without the CMC. It is possible, but difficult. There should be no arguments or ruptures in the CMC. The Council should take decisions, while the City Hall should implement them. The CMC should approve the budget, while the City Hall should implement it. Running independently is an utopia,” stated the acting mayor.
Ruslan Codreanu was elected municipal councilor in Chisinau in 2015. In November 2017 he was named deputy mayor of Chisinau municipality, while on April 25, 2018 he took over the post of mayor general on an interim basis.
