The teachers from rural areas and district centers who worked for over 30 years at the same education institution without interruption will receive an allowance of 6,750 lei after they retire. The money will be allocated once a year for paying for the heat and electricity consumed in the settlement where they worked. The given provision is contained in the pre-final variant of the Education Code.
“The social insurance on retirement is designed to stimulate first of all the young specialists who will be motivated to work at the same education institution and will not leave to work somewhere else. It is also a motivation for the working teachers not to leave the system,” division head at the Ministry of Education Tudor Cojocaru has told IPN. According to estimates, the state will spend 21.9 million lei a year if 10% of the teaching staff retire annually.
Under the pre-final variant of the Education Code, the young specialists who will choose to work in rural areas, as assigned by the Ministry of Education, will have a shortened work program during the first three years of work and will receive a teaching debut salary equal to the average official salary. They will be also entitled to leave of 62 calendar days and annual allowances for purchasing teaching aids, etc. A sum of about 61 million lei will be needed for these purposes.
Currently, the young specialists working in rural areas receive a lump sum of 30,000 lei that is paid in installments during three years and allocations for paying the rent, for electrical power, etc.
