Ruling alliance accused of betraying people
“The Alliance for European Integration prepares a new blow to the statehood of Moldova and the moral norms of Moldovan society. The adoption of the scandalous bill on the combating and prevention of discrimination, named the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality, is a new betrayal of the people and its spiritual values by the current power,” reads a statement issued by the Communist Party. According to the PCRM, the adoption of this law represents a serious challenge to human morality, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It is well-known that only several EU member states risked passing such a law, while most of the European counties do not intend to adopt such documents, for evident reasons,” it is said in the statement.
According to the Communists, the main articles of the Constitution of Moldova guarantee the human rights and freedoms, including the principle of equality. One should only obey the Constitution for this principle to be respected, not to promote aggressive propaganda against the traditional values and views of the majority of people.
“The adoption of this law, which is rejected by whole society, is nothing else but an insult to our people,” says the statement. The Communist parliamentary group is categorically against this shameful document that discredits Parliament and will oppose its implementation. It intends to take steps to annul it as soon as possible.
The Law on Guaranteeing of Equality was passed by Parliament Friday, in two readings, by 53 votes for and 4 against.
