The rules for importing donations destined for refugees and made by individuals abroad have been simplified, as decided today by the Commission for Emergencies.
The donations will first be collected at the Leușeni customs office, with the individual donors required to fill out an online declaration form. Subsequently, the goods will be sent to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection for distribution to the beneficiaries. Customs clearance will be provided free of charge.
Also, the Commission has simplified transit rules for individuals traveling to Ukraine with humanitarian assistance. The goods will be sealed and tracked until they exit Moldova.
Also today, it has been decided to authorize SpaceX’s Starlink internet services to be offered at border crossings and refugee camps, as an exception from the usual accreditation rules.
Another decision has been to allocate an extra 5.6 million lei to the Ministry of Infrastructure to cover unbudgeted costs incurred in the past two weeks for transporting refugees.
