The crossing of the border with medicines issued based on prescription is permitted only in the quantities prescribed by the doctor. The medicines without prescription must not exceed the number needed for treatment during the trip, Tatiana Bogdan Șompol, press officer of the Customs Service, has told IPN.
The prescription issued by the medical institution should indicate the name of the drug, method of administration and length of treatment.
Five cases of illegal transportation of medicines have been reported so far this year. The introduction of psychotropic substances into the country is classed as smuggling and is punished with at most eight years in jail.
The Customs Service recommends the persons who travel by plane to ask representatives of airlines about the eventual restrictions as to the transportation of medicines.
