Rugby Tag competition for pupils on both banks of the Nistru

A Rugby Tag competition will be organized for pupils on both banks of the Nistru on April 28-29. The details of the tournament were discussed by the Deputy Minister of Education Tatiana Poting, the head of pre-school, primary and general secondary education Valentin Crudu and the head of the Council of Europe office in Chisinau Ulvi Akhundlu, Info-Prim Neo reports. The competition is organized at the initiative of the Council of Europe in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other NGOs specialized in this sphere. According to organizers, the tournament will involve 300 pupils and will take place in Chisinau and Tiraspol. The participants will form 14 teams of 7-9 pupils each, aged 15-16. The members of teams will be selected by NGOs and local education, youth and sports divisions. “Rugby Tag familiarizes children with rugby. It’s a non-violent game that promotes responsibility, friendship and respect”, said Deputy Minister Tatiana Poting. Head of the Council of Europe office in Chisinau Ulvi Akhundlu said that the matches would be preceded by interactive lessons about the game rules. Players don’t need special training as the rules are pretty simple. Each participant will receive a set of equipment for Ruby Tag.
