Several cars parked beside a filling station near the Chisinau Airport were damaged by pieces of metal roofing ripped off by gusty wind today in the afternoon. A man was trapped inside one of the cars and required extrication.
The Emergencies Inspectorate said the 112 call came in at around 2:00 p.m. The rescue team established that four cars had been damaged and a man, otherwise unharmed, was trapped inside a Lexus.
Inspectorate spokesperson Liliana Pușcașu said no other incidents have been reported due to the windy weather.
The State Weather Service issued a code-yellow wind advisory for today, forecasting wind blowing from NW, in gusts at speeds around 15 -18 m/s, on extended areas across the country. The general public is cautioned to watch out for downed power lines, avoid walking near hazards like old trees or dilapidated buildings, and call 112 whenever emergencies occur.
