Romany people to stage parade in Chisinau

The problems faced by the Roma in Moldova are discussed in a roundtable meeting that is attended by ministerial officials and representatives of NGOs that defend the interests of this ethnicity, Info-Prim Neo reports. Robert Cerari, head of the Coalition “The Voice of Roma”, said that the Romany people in Moldova did not manage to fully integrate into society and encounter problems as regards access to health, education, social assistance and employment. Marin Alla, head of the Union of Young Romany People “Tarna Rom”, said a priority of today's discussions is to work out the 2011-2015 plan of action for supporting the Roma population. The roundtable meeting was organized before the International Roma Day that is marked on April 8. Roma baron Artur Cerari said a parade will be staged in Chisinau on Friday on this occasion. The column will set off from the Great National Assembly Square at 9am and will head towards the Interethnic Relations Bureau. The Roma in Moldova have celebrated the International Roma Day for 20 years.
