Romania’s Embassy in Moldova recommends the Romanian voters in the Republic of Moldova to register for postal voting in this autumn’s elections to choose members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of Romania’s Parliament given the uncertainty about the length and effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release, Romania’s Embassy says that by registering for postal voting and by voting by mail “you choose to protect yourself and the others and to eliminate any risk of infection”, IPN reports.
Those who want to exercise their right to vote by mail or to vote at a polling station abroad in the 2020 parliamentary elections of Romania can register on the platform www.votstrainatate.ro that is managed by the Permanent Electoral Authority.
To register for postal voting, the Romanian citizens who are temporarily in the Republic of Moldova should annex a scanned copy of the identity card that should be valid on the form completion day and a scanned copy or a photo of the document that proves the right of stay in the Republic of Moldova, issued by the local authorities – temporary permit of stay.
The Romanian citizens who also hold the nationality of the Republic of Moldova should attach a scanned copy of the identity card that should be valid on the form completion day and a scanned copy or a photo of identification papers issued by the Moldovan authorities.
The applications to register for postal voting can be submitted until the expiry of at most 15 days of the start of the electoral period. The election date is to be decided by the Romanian authorities in the immediate period.
