Romanians elect next president today
Romanians everywhere, including holders of Romanian citizenship in the Republic of Moldova, are expected today, December 6, at the polling stations to take part in the second round of the presidential elections to choose between acting president Traian Basescu (of the Democratic Liberal Party) and Mircea Geoana (of the Social Democratic Party), Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Romanian MFA, the same number of polling stations will be opened abroad – 294 –, including 13 in Moldova.
Unchanged are also the voter rolls and other voting procedures.
Over 8,000 Romanian voters participated in the first round at the polling stations opened in Moldova two weeks ago.
Unofficial figures show that the Republic of Moldova is home to about 140,000 holders of Romanian citizenship.
