Romanian version of Italian book launched at National Library

The Romanian version of a book about the great Italian writers Gianni Rodari and Italo Calvino, written by Italian writer Maria Grazia Ferraris, was launched at the National Library on April 25 in connection with the celebration of the Italian language and culture this month. The book was issued in 300 copies, IPN reports.

The book “La luna giocosa. Gianni Rodari ed Italo Calvino: Leggerezza ed Esattezza” – “Playful moon. Gianni Rodari and Italo Calvino: Legerity and Exactness” was translated into Romanian by Ecaterina Deleu. The preface was written by Vladimir Besleaga, while Calina Trifan edited the book.

In the preface, Vladimir Beșleaga says Maria Grazia Ferraris’ book is a well-designed and documented literary essay. The famous personages created by Gianni Rodari and Italo Calvino made a tour of the world, ensuring pleasant reading for small and adult readers. The two famous writers of the Italian literature, who appeared in a duo from the tumultuous 20th century owing to their common aspiration for creation, were both thirsty for the miracles of life that hides considerable beauty in depth.

Italy’s Ambassador in Chisinau Valeria Biagiotti said the National Library staged a very nice event as part of the activities dedicated to the Italian literature and culture organized this month. A number of 500 books will be donated to the National Library in May and this is also a nice event dedicated to literature and culture.

Elena Pintilei, director general of the National Library, said the book is also launched in the context of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. Gianni Rodari and Italo Calvino are two writers of universal literature who are beloved by children. The book was translated with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy and the Embassy of Italy in Moldova.

Immediately after the launch of the book, students of the Theoretical Lyceum “Dante Aligheri” recited fragments from writers’ works. Pianist Raffaele Scognamiglio gave a performance of Italian music, while the choral vocal ensemble of the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” sang Italian Romantic songs.
