Romanian sentenced for stealing money from former Moldovan wife’s bag
A 32-year-old man of Romanian nationality got two years and eight months in jail for stealing the wallet with almost 2,000 lei from his ex-wife. During the past 12 years the culprit has lived in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the man stole the wallet and the identity card of his former wife from her bag in September, at a market in Chisinau, where the woman worked.
The convict has four children with the Moldovan woman. When the theft was committed, the two were divorcing. The man threw the identity card and spent the money on gambling.
The sentence was passed in the absence of the culprit, who did not present himself at the trial. The conviction can be appealed to a higher court.
