Romanian president meets Moldovan journalists and writers
The President of Romania Traian Basescu had a meeting with a Moldovan delegation at the Cotroceni Palace on Tuesday. The interlocutors discussed methods that the authorities can use to encourage the assertion of the Romanian identity and consular and legal matters, the Romanian presidential press service has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Traian Basescu assured that Romania will continue to support Moldova on its path to European integration and the democratic development in Moldova, the communiqué says.
The visit forms part of the program of direct consultations between representatives of Romanian organizations and the Romanian authorities initiated by the Department for Relations with the Romanians from Everywhere with the aim of identifying solutions to problems typical of every Romanian community.
The Moldovan delegation was composed of representatives of the independent press, writers, teachers, presidents of cultural associations, former political prisoners.
The Romanian president has earlier met representatives of the Romanian communities in Italy, Spain and Ukraine.
