A C-27 J Spartan aircraft of the Romania Air Force was engaged in an international humanitarian assistance mission in support of the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, for transporting 1.5 tonnes of sanitary protection equipment, IPN reports.
According to Romania’s Embassy in Moldova, the mission is performed at the request of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe. The assistance is offered to the Republic of Moldova on the NATO platform, Romania ensuring its transportation.
The plane took off from the 90 Airbase Otopeni to Luxemburg for being loaded with the equipment and shipping this to Chisinau.
The humanitarian aid from NATO consists of 100,000 FFP2 masks to the value of US$190,000. The plane is expected to land at the Chisinau International Airport at about 6pm.
