Romanian lawmaker Eugen Tomac submitted a legislative initiative to the Government of Romania, suggesting setting up 50 polling places for the May 25 European legislative elections in Moldova, IPN reports.
“The Romanian citizens from Moldova must be able to vote members of the European Parliament. It is a good occasion for those who have Romanian nationality to become involved in the decision-making process taking place in Brussels. Over the last few years, the Romanian MEPs have taken an active part in the rapprochement between Moldova and the EU,” said the MP.
Eugen Tomac also said that only two polling places were established for the last elections, of 2009 - at the Embassy of Romania and at the Romanian Consulate in Chisinau. Currently, Romania also has consulates in Cahul, Balti and Ungheni.
